Just finished reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. It’s a VERY tough read - heartbreaking - but worth sticking with it.

The Wolf Hall trio is much improved after watching the television adaptation. You kind of work out who everyone is 🙈🙈

Hi, I really enjoyed Sally Diamond as I read it over Christmas and could not put it down. If you like it then look up Eleanor Oliphant!

Hi Gareth - only just had time to read this... What a great idea to share your book recommendations! Thank you! 🥰 I got Kate Bradbury's One Garden Against the World for Christmas and devoured it - such an important book

Oh how I love a book recommendation Gareth (as well as your lovely ramblings and pics) and that’s probably why my current GoodReads TBR pile has nearly 300 books on it 🙈 Mind you I read 82 books in 2024 so I’m not doing too badly. I’ve read just 14 of the books on Keepers Cottage recommendations list so I guess that TBR will be growing a little now 😬😂

I'm currently listening to James (Percival Everett). How do you feel about audiobooks? In this case, Dominic Hoffman's interpretation and performance are fantastic, adding to the story. I highly recommend it. I have gotten into audiobooks more over the past few years because I can read while gardening, walking the dogs, and doing household tasks. It really helps this busy mom tackle the TBR list!

A book club held in your cottage sounds brilliant! I would love to be there. Do you think the doggies would give up the corner spot for a visitor? Thank you for your list of books. I do read quite a bit, mostly at bedtime (which can make putting the light out quite late if it's a book I can't put down!) I will definitely refer to your list next time I'm looking for a book to read.

Thank you for your latest, 'Pass the Book'.

Great photos from your road trip. Time does tend to fly doesn't it!

I love reading but have little spare time, and when I start reading, I fall asleep 🤦‍♀️ I have an enormous amount of books which I couldn't part with, I love just looking at them. I too, have vowed that I am going to re-read the classics, but the writing is so small in many of them!

Thank you for the Book recommendations. I haven't read any on that list. I will endeavor to though.

One set of books which I really enjoyed was a saga over five books. It's a historical series based on Portland Dorset and as it progresses, the storymoves to Somerset. The saga features smuggling, sea rescues, murder, blackmail, imprisonment, tragedies, heartache and more. Those familiar with Portland will recognise many of the places in the books.

I'll have copious amounts of tea please, but I'm also partial to a glass or two of wine 🍷

Have a great week xx

I’ll have wine please! 😜

Great list and I appreciate it as I have also set out to read at least 25 books this year including some classics. My favourite from your list has to be The Thursday Murder Club series, sheer joy!

I am so drawn to the photos though and especially the one of Glencoe. As someone who has never been to Scotland I am going to try and visit this year as it looks truly stunning. Thank you for inspiring me to do that ❤️.

Have a great week.

I have read all the books used for the Shetland & Vera series. Ann Cleaves I believe. I also re read the James Herriot books. I love reading murder mystery’s not gorie stuff just the murder sailing part. I can read a book in a few hours if it grabs my attention. We live in small house so very to donate my books to either my local library or a senior housing facility. 🐾

Hi Gareth. I've so enjoyed your little Christmas holiday. It's like I've been away and had a refreshing relaxing time so thanks guys for that.

Books. I adore them even just to look at. I read in spasms sometime I can't put a book down, and then read others. Then I'll have a short period when I don't read. I love history so I adore historical books. Not so much novels but histories. I'm keen on Russian history, but anything regarding the Russian royals and you need notebook and pen there are so many characters. Have I ever mentioned my love of India so please may I put just three books belatedly to your list. Arundhati Roy's The God of Small things. (you have to read this first) then The Ministry of Utmost Happiness. I just adore her writing there are other things by her but mainly essays. Then also Tiger Hills by Sarita Mandanna. A beautifully written book and so touching. I've just re read Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks. My word he takes you there to France just pre and during the first world war. Now I'm going on! Instead of painting write Gareth. I love your turn of the spoken word and your cheekiness. You'd do well.
