A debate as old as time: does size matter? Of course, what you do with it is also important. But I would argue, yes. Longer the better. When it comes to pleasure, nothing beats a three-day weekend.
I love that table! I always think things are meant to be. (Although I don't always believe it myself). Keepers is meant to have Gareth and Paul. Hearing you chat you can see the interiors and feel it, it is you. Funny we were with friends on Sunday and chatting about a holiday we spent together in your part of Scotland. I said I could have stayed there forever. No wonder Scotland has been voted one of the world's most beautiful countries. Keep the rack you'll always regret sending it back.......and eeerm speaking from memory size does matter.
I think you made the right decision. I just adore Keepers Cottage it is lovely.
I love the the coffee table. Really like size & shape. I Don’t know if I would paint it? There is a paint has soft colors pallet that does not totally cover the wood. I had a Pine farm table made years ago, I needed a narrow farm type table to fit in our small dining area. I bought this paint that I described above, painted the table & I love it. I like the look of worn old pine furniture, however I felt we had too much wood in our small dinning room. Painting /waxing the table just lightened up the room. If I come across the name I will message you.
Fabulous ramblings as always! I remember being really impressed when you decided to take the plunge and not wait for retirement! I can totally recommend 3 day weekends... In September 2023 I decided to start a phased retirement and went down to a 4 day working week - Monday is my non-, working days. Like you and Paul I work at a university and I was worried I might end up cramming a full week's work into 4 days - but I've been really disciplined about sticking to my contracted hours and speaking up when my workload is looking too much for 4 days! I've only got another 21 months until I can fully retire.... Not that I'm counting down the days! 🥰

A pleasure to read you as always. Glencoe, probably in the top 5 of my favorite landscapes.
Reading you I think back to my last trip there in 2022.
Thanks for the trip Gareth
I need to see this dish rack!!

Another fabulous, funny enjoyable read ❤️
So enjoyed your writing and looking forward to the next installment. But can you divulge where you were walking in Glencoe, it's a big area!
Once again, I am transported by your prose into the captivating world of the West Coast of Scotland.
A very enjoyable read, as I sip a wee single malt
Very enjoyable post, sounds like a beautiful area to explore. Can we see the coveted dish rack 🤭
