Judging by the look on Paul's face, I might need to give my art another week or two before I decide to give up the day job. Anyway, pull up a chair, the kettle is on, and I've plenty to talk about.
I wait anxiously for everyone of your posts. The comforting writing is not to be missed and the lyrical descriptions are simply beautiful. I must confess your posts are one of the few on Substack that I read and often reread in totality. Thank you for sharing. And keep your renewed endeavor of painting going. It’s such a mind and soul activity and share with us on Substack.
Wonderful photos of a great weekend. I don’t mind a Monday, to be honest, but I eased into retirement a few months ago and that probably explains why the new week doesn’t phase me at all!
The art is a cracking idea. And you have the best desk to sit and paint - all good! Have a lovely week - really enjoying reading your words…
Hi Gareth. So happy you've got out your art materials. Enjoy the course it looks very interesting. I note too that Joanne enjoys the way you write.....now what have it said. Now about the DIY when can we expect the wallpaper reveal? Or have I missed it in my dotage?
Thank you Bob, and for always being such a generous supporter of my blog - it is so appreciated. And no, don’t worry - you’ve not missed it! I’ll hopefully get it sorted this week! Have a good one too Bob.
I love reading thia every week! Love that Chinese proverb. Cookbook recommendation from me has to be Persiana Everyday by Sabrina Ghayour - the spicy nutty roast cauliflower is heavenly. Debbie at McWilD x
You write so beautifully Gareth, loved all this. All of us at the Little Art School Charity as so grateful to you for sharing your lovely positivity about art and about us; THANK YOU ❤️ On another subject, I too bought Nigel Slater’s Christmas Chronicles last week after reading your recommendation and I’m loving it 🥰 Good luck with the painting this week, I hope it brings you joy 😊
Thank you Joanne - that’s such a lovely comment. And it’s my absolute pleasure to share and champion your amazing work. Consider me a brand ambassador! :-) I hope you love the book - it’s also a great audiobook too. Have a fabulous week!
Hi Joanne. I'm glad you've said this. I've been saying to Gareth for a while he should think about writing. He does write beautifully with a wonderful turn of phrase. I'm happy to see someone else sees it. I'm happy he's enjoying your course.

If you're looking for podcast recommendations you might want to try Oh My Dog - it's Jack Dee and Sean Walsh talking about their dogs (mostly!) and with various Doggy obsessed guests... It's light and funny and often informative! 🐕🐾💖

The other week you mentioned Nigel Slater's Chronicles of Christmas (think that is near enough the title). I hadn't come across it so I took a look, bought it and am so enjoying dipping into it.. Thank you so much for the recommendation
(I ordered it from Bookshop.org so I could direct the profit to my chosen independent bookshop - what a great arrangement)
